Many of the adventurers and zoologists who we think of trekking through the jungles in the 1800s may well have had a bushy beard, however what many people don't know is that there were also some incredible women who also took up their butterfly nests to push the boundaries of science! In this talk we will explore some of the stories of the amazing women who defied the odds and changed science.

Eleanor Drinkwater

Eleanor is an entomologist and expedition leader. Her passion for understanding animal behaviour, and human-animal interactions have led her to work in jungles from Honduras to Peru, and most recently to French Guiana where she set out to track the biggest beetle on the planet. In particular, Eleanor specialises in understanding how and why invertebrates have personality, and is currently completing a PhD on the personality of woodlice. She LOVES bugs and took a Giant African Land Snail on the train home before lockdown! She is super bubbly and incredibly passionate about her area of expertise and inspiring others!
